come naturally; they are learned.
This is the basic concept behind the
Making Parenting a Pleasure (MPAP)
classes being offered to young parents

Spring 2008
In October, 2007 the Friends of Sacramento Crisis Nurseries
launched a program that will be an annual fundraiser: 4-thebabies.
Slated to run through April, Child Abuse Prevention Month, we
invited individuals, businesses, service and youth groups, and
churches to participate however they wished.
Participation grows daily. As we go to press with this newsletter
were adding more activities every day.

Fall 2007
Now more than ever the Sac-ramento Crisis Nursery is preventing
child abuse. Over the past few years the crisis nurser-ies provided
shelter to many babies and infants that were already abused or
drug exposed at birth. We never had a chance at prevention with
these young victims. More

Summer 2007
With a new look and a new approach to ensuring the safety and
security of children, the Crisis Nursery is set to embark on an
expansion of services designed and directed at building solid,
loving and strong families. On site services for the families
of children brought to the nurseries promise hope and support
to both child and parent.

The Sacramento Crisis Nurseries offer vital and critical services
to our community. It is a highly respected program and its supporters,
including the Friends of the Crisis Nurseries, are commended for

Parent-Child Interac-tion Therapy (PCIT), a technique successfully
implemented by a team of child behavioral specialists at UC Davis
Health System, is about to be introduced at the Sacramento Crisis

Summer 2006
In a crowded field of nominees, the Friends of the Sacramento
Crisis Nurseries won the coveted Regional Award for Outstanding
Service Club Achievement for 2005. The award, given by the Community
Services Planning Council, was announced at the People Helping
People awards luncheon on April 19, 2006. Click

Winter/Spring 2006
In February 2006 the Sacramento Childrens Homes Crisis
Nurseries celebrate ten years of services to children and families.
The anniversary year will provide many opportunities to recognize
our accomplishments and lay the foundation for sustaining this

Fall 2005
This February marks the 10th Anniversary of the opening of the
South Nursery. This fall the Nursery has undertaken a makeover
with the help and support of Richard A. Wilkins Construction Inc.,
Leadership Sacramento headed by Lorcan Barnes and the Fair Oaks
Presbyterian Tugboat Marinership. Click

Summer 2005
The Crocker Road Designer Show-house is a newly remodeled 4,000
square foot cottage style home built in the 1920s. Its location
on Crocker Road in the Sierra Oaks Vista neighborhood posi-tions
it among the most prestigious and beautiful homes in Sacramento.
Twenty-one distinctive spaces, including a pool-side cabana and
extensive landscaping, will be created by twenty of Sacramento’s
most esteemed interior and landscape designers. Click

Spring 2005
The South Nursery officially opened and began serving children
and families in February 1996. To date, the South Nursery has
served over 1,680 children and their families by providing a safe,
nurturing “home” for the children while the parents received counseling
and referral services and accessed community resources in order
to resolve issues ranging from domestic violence, drug abuse,
mental health,homelessness, and employment. Click

Winter 2005
We are proud and excited to announce the passage of SB 855, which
creates a new licensing category for crisis nurseries in California.
As you know, the Sacramento Crisis Nurseries were created in response
to our community’s need for a program to provide temporary emergency
respite care for infants, toddlers and young children of families
who are in crisis. Click
